Happy 808 Day!

The 8th of August (8/08) every year sees folks around the world celebrate the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Many release music for the occasion.

Here's mine: introducing 8080808

An old school electro beat (think Afrika Bambaataa, Cybotron, Egyptian Lover, Jonzun Crew) with screaming, distorted acid. What's not to love?

As always, you can check it out on BandCamp

@colinwalker If I get one more email offering me 808 samples (or some variation) I am going to scream. At least the Native Instruments post was informative.

I keep getting emails offering general sample packs but have somehow managed to avoid an influx of 808 related ones.

A brief moment of panic.

I finished pH 4 over three weeks ago and have been listening to an MP3 of it ever since. Going to export a high quality version something seemed off – it's as though the acid line has pitched down by a semitone (or the rest of the track has been pitched up.) 🤷‍♂️

What to do?

I'm having to export the acid sections (luckily on a separate track) and pitch shift them back up again before reimporting.

Honestly not got a clue what happened there.

Managed to fix it – had to do two separate half-semitone shifts as a full semitone was damaging the audio.

That means Litmus Test (phase 2) is now ready to go but I'll save it for a little while.
