I found a bug after making all the query changes: new posts wouldn't correctly recognise previous ones on the same day meaning they all ended up with the same URL. This, obviously, has a knock-on effect with the RSS feeds.
I think I know where the problem occurs but need to do a bit of digging to make sure.
