The past few days have been spent just pottering around. Sorting some things out, getting rid of some rubbish, post-Christmas shopping, a bit of music. That kind of thing.

Christmas itself was a low key affair. We had a friend to stay for a couple of nights beforehand (one of my wife's oldest school friends and the bridesmaid at our wedding) but Christmas itself was just us – no relatives. I definitely prefer it like that now, there's less stress.

It was, of course, Harry's first Christmas but, at 9 months, there is only so much he can take in. Next year will be when he starts to gain an understanding of what's happening.

2022 has been a mixed year. The obvious low points were Covid and the resurgence of my mental health issues. On the flip side, that has lead to me actually getting medication and some proper help so that particular cloud has a silver lining.

I have continued to make (b)log–In a better and more robust platform, even while I wasn't actively blogging. The improvements to /reader, especially, have been a high point. The past couple of days have seen me start implementing HTMX on the blog page but there's still a way to go with that. If I can do everything I want it will significantly streamline the code for the main page.

I will start my new role at work in a few days. It will begin as a direct continuation of what I've been doing for the past year but will grow once things progress and the rest of the team is finalised. That's certainly something to look forward to for next year.

For the first time I can remember since being a kid, I won't be up at midnight to see in the New Year. After taking the Quetiapine between 7:30 and 8pm I'm usually like the walking dead by about 9:30. Tonight is no exception.

It may be almost a couple of hours early but here's wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2023. Let's hope it's a good one.
