This is what it's all about:

All of these things are interconnected, even if barely any part of it is in direct response to any other part of it ... In a very real way, even if none of them ever see the others' posts, they're also talking to each other.

Tracy's comment, from her 20th anniversary post, sums this up:

Knowing my words are out there for others, whether or not anyone reads them, makes me feel like I'm part of the online community.

The blogging 'community' is such a loosely coupled thing but one which can move mountains.

A loosely coupled system is one in which the components have weak, breakable relationships; changes in one have little impact on others and they are interchangeable. Sounds a lot like blogs!

Yet, putting words out there (whether or not anyone reads them) is, indeed, talking to other bloggers – whether or not we know they exist. Those words combine into a collective blogging unconscious waiting for someone to unravel the threads and weave the web.

It doesn't matter who contributes to this pool of words just that someone does. Ideas are universal and will find their way to the surface one way, and in one form, or another.
