The new drafts functionality should now be complete – this post serves as a final test.
Previously, drafts were inserted into the post list and provided with the post number for that day – even when published, this didn't change. I was using drafts just to save something quickly while working on the post and publish it straight away. The new version of draft posts enables them to be handled separately from published posts.
While they are still inserted in the post list (and only visible when logged in) they are no longer supplied a post number. They can be updated and published directly from the main blog page or from the new /drafts/
page which lists all drafts.
A new drafts indicator is shown at the top of the blog page when logged in and only when drafts are available:
When a draft is published the permalink, date, and post number are assigned so that it is created as the latest item on the blog, not left in its original position as before. This post is an edited draft from yesterday that should now show as a new item today – 11th August.
