When I started work on (b)log-In I was never sure if it was a viable project and that I'd be able to create something that functioned and did what I needed it to do. I just wanted a basic blogging engine that allowed me to put words and pictures on the web – it has become so much more.

The feature creep bothers me to a degree – while nothing much changes on the public-facing side, the usage and admin aspects grow increasingly complex and the code base larger. As I add new features and pages it moves ever further from that small, simple solution I originally envisaged and built.

Thus far, I feel the additions have been worth it and improved the system – the code could likely do with some tidying and condensing but that's a different story. What I worry about is the point where more no longer equals better and whether I'll be able to recognise that, or if I'll just keep throwing things in and making it worse because I can't help myself and the constant need to tweak.

There are still areas I know I need to improve in the GitHub version, more options I need to provide because things are still tailored to my specific requirements, but as no one else is using it (although one person has forked it to have a look) that's not really a priority even though I want it to be the best it can be.

I will watch most sports and enjoy them because I appreciate the skill involved even if it's not something I would play or have ever played. I like all forms of cricket but The Hundred has been a revelation. It's such fun to watch on TV and listen to on the radio, even more exciting and frenetic than T20. 🏏
