I went upstairs to see if I could build on yesterday's idea. There was little expectation so, to keep things simple, I only turned on five things:
- both TD-3s,
- RD-6,
- LM Drum, and
- the WASP
I quickly realised that I'd incorrectly noted which pattern I was using on the black TD-3, but this resulted in a happy accident; the wrong pattern sounded better, I just had to adjust a couple of notes to get it in key.
I then decided that the top line needed altering to fit, as well as pitching it up an octave, which improved that no end.
Before I knew it, after tweaking the sound on the WASP, I had something that actually sounded pretty good.
Before I got too deep in the weeds, I saved the project and shut everything down. One step at a time. If I go back to it tomorrow night and still think it's viable, I'll start building the drum variations required for a decent arrangement.
It feels good!
