It's been a tough couple of weeks, what with norovirus going round the house and my being unable to take my meds. I'm back on them again now but repeating the introductory half dose.
While I've made the occasional change to code (principally to iron out a few glitches and prevent errors) I've not felt like writing or had much to say.
Recently, when browsing On this day, I've noticed issues with a few posts in the archive. There were some broken image links, the odd emoji gone missing through encoding snafus, and poor presentation (especially code blocks) because of the crap HTML that WordPress used to add to posts.
In lieu of writing something new I decided to go back over the almost 13 years of the archive (April 2008 - Jan 2021) and fix things. Still, that's got me writing about it so I've done the usual and tricked myself into blogging.
# I wrote back in 2018 about my interest in Tai Chi and did an online course looking at the theory behind it.
Skip forward almost 6½ years and I finally went to my first actual class.
The social anxiety was kicking in and I had a sense of panic bubbling under the surface most of the day. Being in a room full of complete strangers doing something I've never done before scares the hell out of me. But I went and thoroughly enjoyed it!
We started with some Qigong breathing and stretching exercises to warm up before myself and another chap we're taken out of the group to get an introduction to the first stages.
Despite my body protesting with plenty of cracks and pops (especially in the shoulders) I think it went really well. I'll definitely be going again next week.
