After much faffing (multiple tests and reposts – apologies for random items in the RSS feed) I finally got 'webmention labels' working how I want them.

I decided to implement labels for webmentions just as I have for notices like 'Breaking' and 'Update' to make things look a little more visually consistent and help them stand out. The issue I was having was handling the output for RSS feeds. I was mistakenly treating them like the other labels when they are generated in a different way – no wonder it wasn't working.
