Happy Yule! Happy Winter Solstice!

The shortest day, the longest night, the first day of winter. After today, the days start getting longer, light returns to the world and we can look forward to Spring.

My wife absolutely loves the long dark evenings but I'm the opposite, I've always said I have SAD (Seasonally Affected Disorder) so today marks a turning point in my own year. It's the feeling that it should be bedtime around 6pm that gets me, it just seems so much later than it is and that constantly throws me.

Maybe I'm just in sync with the seasons and should get up/go to bed along with the sun.

My end of year work review went well so, between now and the new year, I need to start thinking about my objectives for 2022.

I've been in the new role for over two and a half months now and it still feels like I'm finding my feet. The focus will be on gaining a deeper understanding of how things work outside of a support based environment and the language associated with it.

The Prime Minister has announced that there will be no further Covid restrictions before Christmas so my in-laws can still come – they'll be arriving tomorrow. It will be the first time we have seen them in two years.
