I started feeling ill yesterday afternoon, I couldn't keep warm and ached all over, so took a lateral flow test. It was negative. Today, I'm feeling worse, with a bit of an elevated temperature earlier this morning, so have just been for a PCR test – just to be on the safe side. The queue for testing was the longest I've seen which is not a good sign.

It's a sorry state of affairs now that our reactions have changed from "it's just a cold" two years ago to "have I got it?" I probably haven't but that doesn't stop the paranoia.
