How wonderful!
That's unfair, many use these services to keep in contact when they can't be together, connect with new people, get support (including emotional) for all sorts of issues.
A lot of good can happen via these services that gets forgotten when the shit inevitably hits the fan.

That's true, although we forget how we used to achieve this stuff without the networks. They're not totally indispensable. In the same way that smartphones aren't. Yes, there are many things that were/would be harder to do, but we've been duped, by relentless marketing and peer pressure, into thinking that this technology is indispensable.
