I'm having a real Baader-Meinhof moment.

When I first decided to call my newsletter the muse-letter I just thought it was a clever play on words. I seem to recall doing a cursory search and not finding anything. Cool, I thought, I'm a genius! 😊

After I came across the news that Google's Area 120 was launching a newsletter service called Museletter, I now find things called this all over the place. Richard Heinberg's Museletter, for example, even goes back to 1992!

It's likely just a mix of frequency illusion mixed with cognitive bias but it always feels weird when that kind of thing happens.

@colinwalker TIL that Baader Meinhof isn't just a West German militant leftist organization.

@jean New learning for me too! In the mid-70's I had a friend who also studied German and went to Germany. His last name was Bade – a tricky name to have in Germany at the time.

It's sad to see that Sir Clive Sinclair has passed. My first computer, when I was 11, was a Sinclair ZX81, followed by a Sinclair Spectrum. I started learning how to program in BASIC on those machines and spent many an hour lost in classic games like Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Tir Na Nog and Lords of Midnight. I can honestly say, without those machines, I wouldn't have gotten into computers in the way I did and life could have been very different. So here's to you Sir Clive, may you rest in peace.

First computer I ever used was a ZX81 too! So exciting. It was plugged into a black-and-white telly, displayed huge pixels, had all of about 1k of memory. And, from memory, when you were programming it, it was easy for your fingers to slip across the membrane keyboard and accidentally create a typo. Such good memories. :)
