It's the 18th anniversary of when I started blogging. Because of the breaks and hiatuses I've probably actively blogged somewhere between 13 & 14 years, but it's good that I've always come back, even if it's taken a while.
This is my home on the web, my little corner of the internet where I can do whatever I want unbeholden to anyone else's rules. No stats, no metrics, no algorithms, just a place to write and to share with anyone who might be interested. Even if no one is.
It has survived not only my tantrums but the constant claims that blogging is dead. As long as people love to write blogging will always be a thing, what that thing looks like in years to come may change but it will still be there in some form.
@colinwalker A date worth celebrating. Congratulations πΒ π
Absolutely! It's amazing how much it means to me.
@colinwalker π Congratulations!
π
@colinwalker many happy blogversary returns. I've only read since micro.blog but much appreciated.
Thanks John. Pre-2016 it was a different animal anyway, and then it took a while to settle into a format I really enjoyed so you didn't miss much π
@colinwalker I don't know if it's good or bad but I've deleted/lost the early stuff I did, now I only got from 2009 I think (the first things I wrote on a website was around 1990-94)
It's the same with me. My first blog (2003-2008) is no more, although there are some snapshots on the Internet Archive, and any sites I had prior to that (95 to 2003) also no longer exist. I don't think it's any great loss.
@colinwalker Huge congrats, Colin! π₯³ This is a wonderful achievement.
