# I've further reduced the apps on my home screen, striping things back to avoid distraction, and am still using the greyscale colour filter. I want everything I do on my phone to be a deliberate act.
@colinwalker I like the point about being deliberate, my one word this year is intent. I have really culled the apps on my phone, especially in regards to social media.
I'm not sure whether it's a waste or commendable that the more capable mobile devices become the less I do with them. It's been an ongoing trend for a few years now.
While I'm happy that I can do almost everything I need to on the phone there's part of me that increasingly resists getting sucked in.
As well as trying to remove distractions I have fewer apps than ever as I try to condense what I do into a minimum viable toolset.
Fewer apps means less opportunity to fall down rabbit holes and lose myself. Combine this with the greyscale filter which makes the device less enticing and I've found my mobile screen time decreasing significantly.
I've not been as meticulous in trading screen time for time writing in my notebook but I think that's a function of the reduction in screen time itself. Because I'm naturally doing less I don't feel the need to use the notebook to wean myself off digital.
Although I should be using it on a whole different level.
It's quite a strange position to be in.
@colinwalker fascinating take on the home screen. I love the fact that there are no distractions
@colinwalker nice setup!
@colinwalker stupid question: why is the drafts 5 icon red?
@seishonagon Drafts 5 lets you choose from a selection of custom icons. That’s what I chose to distinguish it from the previous version.

@mrkrndvs The only “social” apps I have are micro.blog and Slack and they’re relegated to page 2.
@mrkrndvs nice setup! Thanks for sharing. How did you get the icons in the middle of the screen? Reachability?
@colinwalker same, unless you count Hangouts as "social media". If for some random reason need anything else I use the browser.
@geist It’s done using “blank icons”
@colinwalker I've got a similar setup on my iPhone but I like having a wallpaper so the apps are sitting along the top.
@seishonagon It’s in the Appearance settings.
@colinwalker hmm, couldn’t find the option. Is it on installation?
@colinwalker thanks - didn’t realize Aa was a whole set of appearance settings :-)
