I asked DALL-E to create a cross between a na'vi and an alligator. This is the best it could do:

A while back, Kev linked to a post from Eddie Dale about CMS file comparisons as a rough indication of simplicity/complexity, bloat, etc. Kirby came out smallest at 6.1MB.

I've been worried about feature bloat here so thought it might be an idea to see how (b)log-In compares. The local copy of my repository for the site is 3.6MB according to my Mac, but this is 'size on disk' not true file size. That comes out at more like 2.5MB.

This still isn't the full story.

The 2.5MB includes sections that are no longer used (like the Garden) and other pages not strictly part of the CMS – not to mention three copies of my ebook which total around 1.5MB (the PDF version is 1.1MB alone).

So, that means the files for the actual CMS total around 1MB! I'm VERY happy with that.

I've been thinking (dangerous, I know) about removing the 'map' on the homepage when viewed from a 'desktop' browser and reverting to the text list as appears on mobile.

While the map looks pretty cool it's probably awful for accessibility and I'm not sure about having two discreet looks for the site depending on how you access it.

The map was born from the desire to do something different with the blog, the same desire that made me want to 'gardenify' things. As I wrote previously, I don't need to so the map becomes just a gimmick that serves no real purpose.

I've hidden it for now and will sleep on it.
