If you're looking for a simple but nicely featured blogging platform, Kev Quirk has released Pure Blog. It's a PHP driven site that uses markdown files to hold posts and pages.

It's a bit reminiscent (technically) of Hyblog but with more features, easier styling, multiple layouts, and hooks to enable extra functionality.

It may be only a couple of days since the announcement, but he's already switched to using it from Jekyll. 🙌
