There's always a nagging thought at the back of my mind to live more minimally, but I seem to go the other way in some instances.
More music gear. More t-shirts. Better gadgets.
Beyond that, however, there's not much else. I have drastically reduced the number of books I want/ask for. I have plenty unread as it is, and only wanted most of them due to some kind of faux intellectualism.
I'm not one for clutter, although my wife enjoys it, but wouldn't want to live in a sparse, almost clinical, house.
This nagging thought also applies to blogging. I keep wondering what it would be like to really strip the site back, remove some of the feature creep from the past few years.
A while back, I created a version of the blog page without Bluesky integration. I kept both versions on the server in case I decided to reinstate it.
I didn't.
A couple of weeks ago, I deleted the unused files, knowing I'd never use them again. I also deleted the old /start page which I haven't used for a couple of years.
I no longer use the dictionary (a text-expander type feature) but need to keep it around so some older posts display properly. I might, however, remove the link to it's admin page to reduce clutter.
The /now page has been updated less than a handful of times in the last 12 months. I guess I don't really need that. This makes the now namespace 1 not that anyone else is using it. And I was only using in the live feed which, ironically, has not been live for quite a while.
/music will (eventually) become it's own site so will be just a link in the menu tray.
As I've been typing this post, I have saved it as a draft multiple times to jump out and delete or disable features as I think of them. Whole folders gone! Other pages redirected straight back to the home page (the blog).
I'm sure I'll find other things I can remove or simplify, but that'll do for now. I don't want to overdo it and delete something I might regret.

my idea to have /now style updates included in RSS feeds using a custom XML namespace. ↩
