Say hello to my little friend...

I completely forgot it was Apple's iPhone event yesterday until just before bed. I don't get as excited about these things as I used to. I think I'm now immune to the reality distortion field, but you've got to give them credit for the advances with Apple Silicon.

I've been thinking about reworking the bottom bar on the site ¹ to match the new header:

I think I like it – it creates a better symmetry.

All the updates to the bottom bar are now in place. The previous change didn't last very long, just a few short weeks, but I wasn't really feeling the opaque block that blurred everything behind it. You couldn't see the colours properly so I knew something had to change.

Prior to that, the 'fade out' for the footer lasted over a year. It came as part of a major reworking that also introduced the menu tray. It did its job but wasn't very ... exciting.

I've been gradually moving away from the predominantly monochrome look that has been a mainstay of the site for years. I wonder where else I'll go with it next.

The changes have also meant that the idea of being able to select different themes no longer applies – the site structure is part of the theme and vice versa.
