# I just cancelled my Medium membership.

I supported the idea behind it, I still do, but I don't think the end product is for me. So far.

One of the best things about membership at the beginning was the new version of the homepage, the organisation and customisation was significantly better.

But this is now available to all users.

Although my Medium usage has significantly dropped off I had intended keeping my membership going. Then I realised something: I've only read one or possibly two members-only, funded stories.

I don't know if it's because the types of stories I want to read aren't funded yet or because a lot of the funded content is very US centric but it wasn't a good fit.

So, for now, I'll just wish Medium the very best and hope it continues to develop and improve. If that happens maybe I'll sign up again in future.

# I wasn't originally sure if I should add the code to the GitHub version of the directory plugin to correctly display micro.blog addresses.

Creating a special case for one service seemed a bit off but, seeing as micro.blog is a big provider of webmentions and others won't filter them, I decided to include it.

Some interesting new options for podcast creators coming with iOS 11.

# Reflecting on things, I don't know why I was reluctant to update the directory plugin. Micro.blog has, at least partly, influenced much of what I have been doing with the blog since January.

The idea excited me in the same way Twitter did back in 2006/2007.

Although I had long wanted to mix long and short content, it was the impending launch of Micro.blog that really gave me the nudge I needed.

I think that deserves some recognition.
