In an unexpectedly productive session I got the bulk of pH 5 recorded.

It's a bit rough around the edges at present but, with a bit of arrangement, a sprinkle of EQ, and a sparing dash of percussive sound, it could become something rather good.

It's different to everything else I've put on BandCamp thus far (with the exception of intro but goes further than that.) I'm really looking forward to finishing it.

I've been mainly mucking about with code for the past ten days and have not touched any music.

An initial version of pH 3 was recorded on the 16th but needed redoing as it wasn't well balanced and couldn't be fixed in mastering. I'd not touched it since.

I feared my brain was doing the "one thing at a time" manoeuvre and code was now that one thing. So, I sat down this afternoon and forced myself to return to music. After an unproductive hour I decided to connect one of the TD-3s through my flanger pedal and, suddenly, the passion was reignited.

A huge relief!

Taking a slightly different approach to how I had been previously working on the track made everything click back into place.

A few tweaks aside, pH 3 is done – albeit virtually one-handed as I've done something to my left wrist. 🤷‍♂️😢 Just 5 & 6 to go then I can release the next EP.

I had a fun idea. Space invaders anyone?

Needs a lot of work.

Forgot to include the track listing for (phase 1) yesterday, so here it is:

  1. intro 04:00
  2. pH 0 07:07
  3. pH 1 (Decipher the code) 06:20
  4. pH 2 05:23

It's embedded on the /music page.

I might give my ears a rest before starting on phase 2. But who knows. 😊

 New release:

Litmus Test (phase 1)

The first release in a series. Four new tracks (well, three and an intro). BPMs from 118 to 126 – different vibes, one theme.
