I'm over 600 words into my review of the LM Drum. I'm still in the "first impressions" section and haven't gotten to saying anything about actually using it yet.

I am really trying to take my time with this, so much so that I've taken the device downstairs, away from the rest of my gear, in order to not get sidetracked by making music.

In the past, I've written about creative constraints and how they pushed me when all I had was ReBirth. I was forced to learn everything about the application just so that I could keep doing different things. By digging deep into each piece of gear, I hope to fuel a similar creative spirit. I want to be able to simplify my workflows but achieve the same, or better, results by really knowing what I'm using.

There is a tendency to just reach for another instrument or plugin if I can't get the right sound. I want to get away from this by knowing exactly what each piece of hardware in my setup is capable of, and how to achieve it.

I've never been the most patient of people, but I hope I can instill a little in myself by doing this and reap the rewards.
