I had to collect a parcel from a nearby postal depot and saw, outside, an adult oystercatcher with a couple of young chicks.
I know these birds are often found inland but, with the depot on an industrial estate and them being primarily waders, they couldn't have been much further from their expected habitat.
Saying that, there is another industrial estate close to home and we always see (and hear, definitely hear) oystercatchers there as well.
Nature abides.
