One thing I've noticed working on hyblog is that I have a tendency to overcomplicate things. Having to start from scratch has made me look at the way I design certain aspects and the lessons learnt here can be taken back to (b)log-In to simplify them a little. It won't make a huge difference (the site has become so much more than a blog) but I welcome any improvements that can be made.
One example is the inclusion of unnecessary namespaces in RSS feeds. Having taken a lot of cues from my time on WordPress I included things that don't really need to be there. Cutting them out feels good.
But it helps when you don't make silly mistakes. 🤦♂️
It's nice when someone finds code you wrote nearly 6 years ago and puts it to good use, especially when it is in a different context to why it was created.
It's even better when they reach out and say thanks.
