Congratulations to Simon Collison on the release of his Hiroshima EP:
"The first of four projects documenting travels in Japan, this EP is a love letter to Hiroshima , a city writing a new history."
It's a wonderful and poignant mix of electronica and environmental ambient, the third track Paper Cranes is an especially emotional listen.
I've ordered the special edition cassette from Bandcamp despite having no way to listen to it. Of course I want to show my support but also because the care and attention that has obviously gone into the multimedia aspects of the release take me back to my pre-digital purchases, when albums used to have sleeve notes and fold outs, and buying one was an experience beyond just the listening.
Thank you so, so much for this, Colin. I'm relieved that the EP has been so well received today, and comments like yours have made my day. Thanks, too for going the extra step and buying a cassette.

I've been having problems charging my watch for a while. The Fossil range (including Skagen) have known issues with their charging rings and I worried this was the case with mine but, to troubleshoot, I bought a dirt cheap replacement charger from Amazon.
Problem solved!
It wasn't the watch but the charger, obviously the charging pins weren't making a good enough connection. Huge relief.
Because I use the full HTML content of posts in /reader I have to account for different scenarios when looking for convenient points to split it. 1 I have been checking for line breaks, p, etc. but complex posts with lots of divs can break things.
I have, therefore, taken more drastic action and used strip_tags(). The function allows you to list tags to be retained so I have included quite a long list of the most common tags such that only divs will be removed. 2
So far things seem to be working well without anything being horribly broken but I will need to monitor it as more posts flow through.
One thing I'll say is that when looking at posts contents for troubleshooting it's usually pretty easy to tell which ones come from WordPress blogs.
so that I can use details/summary tags to show/hide the full post ↩
