Back to work today or, rather, back to working from home. It seems longer than six days since I stopped before Christmas which illustrates what a good time was had over the holidays. The days were full of fun and food, games and laughter, and that's all you really need.

I agree that Web3 is overhyped (and probably unsustainable BS) but we don't need to go so far the other way. The over-minimal approach is a bit extreme and pointless in my opinion, very much a 'because we can' thing. CSS isn't really an issue and responsible use of JavaScript, without heavy frameworks, adds useful functionality without too much of a payload.
@colinwalker Apparently some people don't consider CSS to be a 'language' at all, perhaps because it doesn't fit into their mental model of what a 'language' should be, or because it's just there to make things pretty, hence is considered 'girly'. This is both sad and infuriating, because CSS has the power to do lots of things that previously required JavaScript to accomplish.
@colinwalker I agree with you about the power of CSS, and I'm really quite impressed by how far the language has gone. And it's not standing still either. Just 15 minutes ago I saw a blog post about a proposal to add conditionals to CSS, making it easier to write media queries.
I've been after conditionals and dependencies in CSS for years. It would be nice to be able to do away with jQuery for that kind of thing.

@colinwalker Happy you had a great time, and may your work go smoothly😊
Thanks. Well, apart from an Agile course I've been advised to take I'm hoping there won't be too much work to do.
@colinwalker These days between Christmas and the new year are odd anyway, like a limbo.
I would have taken them off but need to save some leave days.
