Mark Twain said "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme." That's certainly how it feels at the moment.
On this day last year I wrote how Covid cases and deaths were increasing due to a new variant (delta) and now here were are, just before Christmas a year later, with statistics again heading in the wrong direction thanks to another new variant.
There is talk of introducing a 'circuit breaker' lockdown on the 27th – some even suggest it could be the 24th but I doubt it, the Government would probably consider it political suicide to impose restrictions on Christmas at such short notice.
We are in a much better position with regards to vaccines and boosters but there are still so many unknowns with Omicron that we can't take any chances.
I wish History would stop with its poetry.
