@colinwalker Changing jobs has only ever taken me further in my life. I have always benefited from it. Better, more responsible tasks, more salary and actually always great colleagues. :)

I had to actually take a pay cut for the new role because it is not based in London but it was so worth it for the quality of life improvement it will enable.

@colinwalker Money is not everything. It was always luck that a salary increase was with me. It was also always more important for me to be happy with the job. And it's great if that's the case for you.

One thing I'm looking forward to from tomorrow is getting into a routine. I may not have had a commute for much of the past 18 months but still having to cover a shift pattern (sometimes with multiple different shifts within the same week) and be on call has not been conducive to living a relaxed life.

Still, there will be no more enforced bed times because I've got to cover the early shift. And no more not being able to go to bed before 10pm because I'm still on call. Yes, it's been nice when an early shift has finished and, because of no commute, I've been able to go out for the rest of the afternoon. However, that is countered by the late shift which, even without a commute, pretty messed up the whole day.

I'll definitely take the surety of a routine now after so many years of irregularities and battling my body's natural rhythms.
