We just watched Coming 2 America – the sequel to the 80's, er, classic? Maybe not but the original was funny. Very much a product of its time.
The initial reaction was wondering how much money they threw at it. It was, however, good to see so many of the original cast back for a second outing and the references to the first film were definitely the best bits.
There were some genuinely funny moments but if you didn't see the original at the time it was released I don't think you'd really appreciate the new one – it absolutely trades on the reputation of its predecessor. Nostalgia is a funny thing.
