We don't always need shiny and new, sometimes everything we need is already right in front of us.

Back in January, I mentioned how my autosave feature was causing our web host to block our IP address. Their systems didn't like the way I was getting and setting form field contents using cookies. I can't even remember how I was doing it now.

Well, Jan-Lukas Else has shared a method using local browser storage which I have tweaked slightly for my own purposes and it works like a charm. Much simpler than I would have been doing it.

A legit use of javascript, indeed.

With my ongoing internal debate about whether to stick to Android or switch to iOS, I watched the WWDC keynote in case it might help sway my opinion.

People talk about iPhones having 'S' years but I think so does iOS — this year, for example. Last year was the big year for iOS with the changes to Springboard. The highlights this year, at least for me, are Siri 'on device', Safari and the privacy additions to the mail app.

Would these changes alone be enough to convince me? Maybe not, but then I've not owned an iPhone since iOS 12. Incremental changes don't seem like much but the combined improvements over three versions are considerably more significant.

The headline in Android 12 is the 'Material You' design with custom theming — is that enough to keep me on Android?

I'm not beholden to either platform so the months ahead will be interesting.

@colinwalker If I ever used Android, the Privacy advantages of iOS 14/15 would be worth it to me to make the jump.
