Happy Friday.

After postponing the muse-letter last week due to being busy at the old house, I let this week get away from me and suddenly realised today was Friday and I'd better get cracking. I had a few notes but wasn't sure how I was going to expand on them. I needn't have worried, today's letter (which will be sent out later) took on a life of its own and drew a few threads together than I wasn't expecting.

That feeling of flow, of being a passenger carried along by the words, will never cease to amaze me. I have always described it as being like a conduit, the words and ideas already exist and just need a route to the page – they come from somewhere not entirely you.

I've been listening to Jean-Michel Jarre's new album Amazônia almost on repeat. As mentioned at the above link, it is "a 52 minute musical score for ”˜Amazônia', a new project by award winning photographer and filmmaker Sebastião Salgado" which is a glorious mix of minimal, ambient music and environmental recording with a number of typical Jarre-isms creeping through that make you feel like his entire musical life has been mapped out from the beginning.

Love it!

@colinwalker Jarre is one of those artist whose early albums I have, but nothing past that - the other notable one being Mike Oldfield. Perhaps I should rectify this...

I think he had a bit of a lull for a while but some of his latest stuff has been really enjoyable.

My renewed enthusiasm for World of Warcraft was short-lived: I stopped playing again a few weeks ago and, last night, took the decision to cancel my subscription. Again. There's no point paying for something I'm not using and I can re-sub again at any point, although that's not likely to happen until the next expansion which will probably be next year.
