I didn't get up as early as I wanted to but still got out in the garden to feed the birds and enjoy the sun while it was out. It's been largely dull, grey and wet for the past week so it's good to have some brightness to start the day. It lifts the spirits.
The great tits don't seem to have been using the feeder much lately (I think the pigeons and magpies have been scaring them off) but they were both flitting around in the tree above me while I put out extra food this morning. It was good to see them, I hope they decide to stay and make use of the bird box.
Last year I relocated my computer desk so that I have an unobscured view out the window to the garden. I can now look out when I'm taking a break from the screen and watch the birds. We have some bushes with berries on them, which attracts the bigger birds. Occasionally, I'll see a red kite sail by just above the level of the rooftop, and a magpie will land on the guttering near my window.

Nice. My desk is by the front window so I can at least see out but all the action happens round the back. It gives me an excuse to get up and walk across the room to refocus every now and then.

In making the core blog files less personalised I wonder if I'm overcomplicating matters. I shouldn't be as the changes mean something only has to be changed once but the resultant code starts looking more complex.
I'm probably just overthinking it. If anyone else were to use the system then there would still be a degree of customisation required (email server settings, the about page, and more) so it's partly moot. Still, it's good to have a degree of automation in there.
I spent some time this evening trying to get webmentions to work when replying to comments. I tried a few different things but it just wasn't happening.
It's frustrating not being able to get something to work. Maybe I'll leave it for a bit and have another look with fresh eyes in a couple of days.
The Brave browser has had an update recently which fixed the issue of resetting tabs when switching between light and dark modes. I hadn't really found a suitable replacement so this is good news.
I'm still testing the Firefox Nightly builds from time to time but am not completely sold on it. There are just a couple of things that a Chromium based browser does better in my opinion.
