Completely out of the blue, I had an idea for a new feature: pinned posts.
They wouldn't be pinned on the blog (it is still a daily thing after all) but on the home page. A single pinned post could be shown above the latest posts.
The idea came fully formed – the pinned post would be set by a new option that holds the value of the post ID. Pinning a different post changes that option, thus replacing the old one. I could, of course, unpin a post instead.
If I ever want or need to highlight something important I can do it this way without anyone needing to go to the blog itself.
