Nipped out for an hour this morning to forage for some meadowsweet – it grows in abundance along nearby hedgerows. The smell in the car was amazing, a sweet, floral bouquet very similar to elderflower.

Liked: Webmentions, A Healthier Analytics | atthislink...
Webmentions as a very basic form of analytics? A nice idea.
It's a shame that webmention usage is still small in relation to the scale of the web and that many would rather just post to social networks than have their own site. Yes, services like brid.gy allow you to receive webmentions by connecting your site to social networks but direct site-to-site communication is so much better.
I've found that even amongst Webmention adopters and early promoters, the only regular usage that Webmention sees is in relation to brid.gy with mirroring social media likes and replies to the original article. This might be the only legitimate Webmention reply that I've ever come across that wasn't just a mirror of a reply on Twitter/Mastodon/micro.blog, etc.
Bridgy and webmention.io are great but at the expense of doing so on site. Indieweb technology can be hard to implement, maybe harder than it should be but if I can do it, even when I didn't think I could, then it's not impossible.

We just went to sleep in the second half. I feel sorry for Jordan Pickford.
@colinwalker Yup! He made some brilliant saves. I bregrudingly had to admit England was playing better...until the second half and even in extra time.
@colinwalker Second half was terrible. We could have won it. But, Italy came back with a bang.
@colinwalker what a lovely thing to do 😊
