My head's still fuzzy from yesterday's migraine but I'm back at work (from home obviously) and got some words down – not as many as I'd like but the important thing is to keep the habit going rather than punish myself for not doing enough.

So, I began the day with JRR Tolkien, Kurt Vonnegut and the Book of Ecclesiastes – interesting bedfellows.

The UK government announced the initial schedule for coming out of lockdown and heading back towards normality. The vaccine rollout continues and the numbers are heading south, which are both great, but I can't help greet yesterday's news with a little cynicism.

From the outset, as soon as the first vaccine was approved, Easter was being targeted as a possible turning point and, sure enough, the first stage of easing measures will occur just in time for the Easter weekend. Funny that.

What surprises me more is that stage four of the government's plan, with no legal limits on social contact, is provisionally set for 21st June despite July 31st being the date when all UK adults will have been offered a vaccine. Maybe we'll have sufficient herd immunity by then.

@colinwalker I share you cynicism, alas. I really want to believe that the government know what they're doing, but I have a sneaking worry that they're just as useless but will do a better job of covering up this fact, and the repercussions from it...

@colinwalker Neat. I hope they fare better than Posterous. I liked emailing Posterous to post.

@jack They seem to be in it for the long haul with the email service, and for the right reasons so if that translates to the blogging platform I think they'll be okay

@colinwalker Yeah, I'm all-in with Hey for email so that's encouraging. Between posting via email and publishing an email newsletter I may not need most of the web pretty soon ;)

@jack I miss Posterous! Emailing to post was just utterly friction free.
