Today was always going to be a mixed bag on the writing front. Yesterday, I completed the initial pass on the notes for chapter 1 so this morning was dedicated to prepping chapter 2.

It went better than I could have hoped with around 550 words either collated from notes or written fresh. I'm really happy with that.

Copying the notes into the "working document" means I know what I'll be working on for the next couple of days rather than starting from a blank page – it's a big psychological boost.

I thought it was cold yesterday but this morning it really is. According to my phone it's currently "-4°C, feels like -8°C" – and does it ever! The heating has been on for a couple of hours and doesn't seem to have made a dent.

Some good news, however, is that I have seen one of the great tits back on the bird feeder again this morning so I'm really happy about that. It would be such a shame if they stopped visiting altogether.
