I've had to remove the call to revoke the generated access token for now – it appeared that doing so revoked everything including the refresh token so things needed to be set up from scratch. I'll have to have another look to see if I can stop that happening.

It's five years today since I switched to the .blog domain – where does the time go? This also means it's about 5 years since I embraced microblogging here rather than on any social network. That decision completely transformed the blog.

When I relaunched things in March 2016, I vowed that things would be different; they weren't, not really. I still published only longer posts and reverted to type writing about social media despite having had enough of it.

2017 changed all that and I haven't looked back since.

Giving myself the freedom to write as much or as little as I wanted, instead of trying to always churn out essays, and dropping the old topic of conversation were some of the best decisions I could have made. If I had tried to stick with my old way of working I likely wouldn't be blogging any more, I would probably have quit a long time ago.

@colinwalker Great post, Colin, I couldn't agree more. I really enjoy blogging without restriction in all forms, be they posts of a simple quote or a detailed essay. Even writing about simple thoughts on our site tells a story of our lives, and how we–and they–evolve over time.
