Welcome to the new week.

I'm struggling this morning. I didn't sleep well and can only have had a couple of hours max. I don't know why, my body protested while my mind wouldn't shut off and I'm paying for it this morning.

I've taken some pills as I can feel a migraine coming on and have the beginnings of my aura but, if it gets worse, can't see myself lasting too long.

Being on the early shift I have no option but to log in for work, at least until someone else comes online later. It will hopefully be a quiet start to the day.

@colinwalker I hope for you that your day will be even better. Hopefully the migraine keeps within limits

@ohBananaJoe Thanks. I'll just have to try to manage it – I can see a return to bed in my near future 😊

When building habits and routines it is said that the days that really count are the ones where you turn up even if you don't feel like it, when it's hard but you do it anyway.

That's today.

I didn't do too much – Chapter 4 turned out shorter than I was expecting but that's okay. It is as long as it needs to be and there's no point forcing it. Beyond that I prepped for Chapter 5 by copying over existing notes and adding a couple of new thoughts ready to get started on it tomorrow.

I keep referring to them as chapters but I'm not happy with that nomenclature – I think I'm might start calling them what theybreally are: lessons. I'll have to rename some pages in the Garden and change a few references here and there but it's better to have it right. Still, that's for later.

@colinwalker I spend last week's training for the copyediting course I'm taking going over previous exercises in Microsoft, comparing my edits to the model answers, and getting more practice using the Track Changes review system to do (and show) manual edits. (Pro tip: Word's spelling and grammar checkers over-edit and will only spot basic mistakes.) Today's exercise was also useful for teaching me how to use the Comment tools in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to do copyedits, queries and typesetting notes on PDFs. It might not be progress on the course, but it's progress in getting better at using the tools I'll need to make this a career. (Neither a Microsoft nor an Adobe fan, but it's what's used in the wider world.)
