# Chris Lovie-Tyler has announced he is switching to an email newsletter - rather than posting to a blog - to really concentrate on his poetry.
You might think as a blogger that I would lament the decision but, in fact, it's quite the opposite.
He's still writing and being very specific about not only what he is writing but also how it is distributed. That's way better than just blogging for the sake of it.
I'm reminded of my post from March in which I said about newsletters:
"Perhaps, instead of throwing away their words, it's just people finding the right level, controlling and truly owning their personal message."
Any form of writing is a good thing but when it is focused and combined with true passion it can be great!
I wish him well, have signed up, and look forward to seeing where it takes him.
Thanks for your support, Colin!
I've fluffed around a lot (read: made lots of changes to my blogs) over the years, and I've probably annoyed some of my readers, but I think part of that is me trying to find my place, my voice, and my focus--maybe the "right level" as you've called it.
For a long time now, I've gravitated to the small and the personal, not just online but in life, so TinyLetter feels like a good fit for me. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'm getting closer to where I want to be.
Not all gestures have to be grand. I hope it gets you there.
