While waiting to see the specialist at hospital I overheard a nurse talking to the mum of a teenage patient, she was explaining that when we look at screens the rate at which we blink falls markedly compared to normal. This can lead to dry eye syndrome and other complications.

The number of patients they were seeing with related issues, especially youngsters who are constantly glued to their devices, has gone up dramatically over recent years and it is becoming concerning.

That interacting with our phones or computers should cause such fundamental and, more importantly, unconscious changes in how our body behaves is definitely worth thinking and worrying about.
